Research question: How sound would look like spatially?
Experiment approach: how do you hope to gain this knowledge? Through translating sounds into sculptures, exploring how different sounds can be represented spatially and how this process can reveal personal memories and associations.
Experiment overview: all participants listened to a sound for 3 minutes and, during that time, created a sculpture that expresses that sound, with the goal of investigating whether and how sound can be translated into spatial form.
Sound 1
Sound 2
Sound 3
Sound 4
Experiment outcomes and findings:
1. Revealed a score to design using sound, translating it into spatial and texture elements.
2. Discovered a way to listen to music soundless
3. Time limit encouraged to use feeling to simplify shapes
