Our experiment on inefficient listening examined the interplay between power and space. In a basement setting, we deconstructed the elements of Bohemian Rhapsody, dispersing individual instruments into separate spaces. To hear the entire song, participants had to navigate swiftly through the fragmented areas. This experiment highlighted the power dynamics inherent in spatial design, where the arrangement of elements influenced accessibility and the ability to perceive the complete musical experience. It raised questions about the intentional manipulation of space to create obstacles and challenges, underscoring how architecture can shape and control interactions, empowering or limiting individuals within a given environment.
