Research question
How does senses influence choice of body movement in space?
Experiment
First iteration; Sensual Limitation in Dancing Scenario, certain conditions of hearing
Inspired by the ArtEZ academic day workshop, Silent Disco, in which our hearing is limited by certain conditions, we further explore this question with our experiment on the sense of vision.
Findings
When everyone first puts on their headphones and starts playing music, no one immediately starts dancing or making other movements. Instead, they look around and use their eyes to check each other’s behavior, observing if anyone else is making any moves. This behavior is possibly influenced by social group psychology then further cause the smaller movements. This phenomenon persists even when the music is later played through speakers. Even though the constraints of social norms are removed, people still tend to observe whether others are dancing before deciding on their own actions.

Experiment
Iteration two: using vision as the operational variable.
Participants are informed this is dark room disco scenario, which vision is strongly be impaired. The movements be operated by the participants were expected during the procedure.
Findings
The maintenance of certain distances involves prediction and choice. The factors of choice and whether there is a predetermined outcome influence the process and the final result. In the context of a single event, the choices and outcomes are relatively straightforward, usually involving either maintaining the status quo or opting to perform a certain action. However, the factors influencing these choices are often more complex.
